Microsoft Edge is a browser from Microsoft that was first released in 2015 along with the first version of Windows 10. It replaced Internet Explorer, which, however, remained part of the OS to ensure compatibility of corporate applications. At first it ran on its own EdgeHTML engine, but later Microsoft decided to switch to solutions provided by Chromium, in the hope of increasing the browser's market share and ensuring compatibility with its rich library of extensions.
